The Immune system, chakras and COVID-19

These days, we are experiencing, all over the world, a very challenging time. The COVID 19 pandemic has caused global social and economic disruption, including the largest global recession since the Great Depression, with up to 100 million more people falling into extreme poverty, and global famines affecting a total of 265 million people.
It has led to the postponement or cancellation of sporting, religious, political, and cultural events, widespread supply shortages exacerbated by panic buying, and decreased emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases.
Schools, universities, and colleges have been closed either nationwide or locally in 161 countries, affecting approximately 98.6 percent of the world’s student population. Misinformation about the virus has circulated through social media and mass media. There have been incidents of xenophobia and discrimination against Chinese people and against those perceived as being Chinese or as being from areas with high infection rates.¹

So, what is it COVID-19? ²

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.

Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.  Older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illnesses.

What can we do about else than use the general protecting methods of the health organizations?

For that we need to understand that infection is always the result of two factors:

exposure to an infective agent and our personal immune system.

Overall, our immune system does a remarkable job of defending us against disease-causing microorganisms. But sometimes it fails: A germ invades successfully and makes you sick.

Is it possible to intervene in this process and boost our immune system?

The idea of boosting our immunity is enticing, but the ability to do so has proved elusive for several reasons. The immune system is precisely that, a system, not a single entity. To function well requires balance and harmony. There is still much that researchers don’t know about the intricacies and interconnectedness of the immune response. For now, there are no scientifically proven direct links between lifestyle and enhanced immune function.

But that doesn’t mean the effects of lifestyle on the immune system aren’t intriguing and shouldn’t be studied. Researchers are exploring the effects of diet, exercise, age, psychological stress, and other factors on the immune response, both in animals and in humans. In the meantime, general healthy-living strategies are a good way to start giving your immune system the upper hand.³

When it comes to our ability to repel invaders,

basic requirements to keep the immune system strong include :
  • Quitting tobacco.
  • Healthy diet
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation.
  • Adequate & quality sleep.
  • Try to minimize stress and use relaxation practice.

This will help reduce the risk of acquiring the virus or reduce the severity or duration of an infection.

In this article, I would like to suggest a holistic point of view

Chakras, by definition, are energy centers within the human body that help to regulate all its processes, from organ function to the immune system and emotions.*

There are seven chakras (energy centers) positioned throughout our body, from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Each chakra has its own vibrational frequency, and color, and governs specific functions. so, which of them are associated with the immune system?

A functional Immune system is one of our most basic needs, our basic needs are ruled by the root chakra.

ROOT CHAKRA – BASE CHAKRA – FIRST CHAKRA

Located at the base of the spine and groin area, this is the animal or base nature. It is also controlling our senses of taste and smell. The Root chakra is associated with adrenals, kidneys, muscles, and arterial blood.

The Root Chakra links us to the physical world, solidity, and support – especially to the physical body. It is the foundation of energy.

The Base or Root Chakra manifests strongly in the motivation to ensure personal survival by way of food, rest, and sexual expression. Spiritually, the base chakra has to do with the protection of individual integrity. It is an energy center that provides a solid ground from which to establish our equilibrium in order to ascend to higher awareness.

Some signs that the Base Chakra is out of balance are:
  • Restlessness
  • Lethargy
  • Flighty, disconnected from reality
  • Distant
  • May experience lower back pain, or suffer from leg pain or immune system disorders.
  • Lack of energy/low levels of activity
  • Loss of interest in the real world or practical survival
  • Volatile emotions
  • Obsession with one thing
  • Selfishness
ROOT CHAKRA COLOR

The colors associated with the root chakra are Red, brown, or black. Red symbolizes life, vitality, strength, and the physical nature of man. In nature, red represents heat, fire, and anger. Rose-red is the color of universal harmony. All the red stones – ruby, garnet, red jasper, bloodstone, rose quartz, coral – are used with the root chakra. (See more root chakra gemstones below)

Healing and the root chakra

For healing, these stones are said to be excellent for anemia and other blood deficiencies. Red offers a healing vibration for emaciation, depression, or lethargy.

Crystals with the red, brown, or black color rays help restore balance to the Base Chakra. The benefits of just a few minutes a day with one of these crystals resting between the legs for 5 – 10 minutes are substantial. The benefits are enhanced if the crystal therapy is augmented with Yoga positions that focus on the lower back, and with activities that connect you with nature such as hiking, gardening, rock collecting, and physical outdoor games.

∗ Although the chakra system is well understood and accepted in many spiritual philosophies and practices, there is yet no acceptable scientific proof of its existence. The reason is that the chakra does not exist on the physical plane but in the etheric energy field of the human body.
